For my Double Page Spread I decided to include a mini photo shoot. This would include the celebrity/model putting on an assortment of different hats/glasses/props and striking a pose. I tried to use props that were age appropriate to my audience and also had a 'fun' theme to them.
I used the ideas from my location moodboard in order to choose props.
I took my inspiration from photobooths. They appear at parties and social events; a group of people enter, choose a range of props and take photos. They're a lot of fun and appeal to my target audience.
I also used Disney as the basis for my photo-shoot. Disney is a universal brand; every child can name and recognise the characters. This prompted me to use Minnie Mouse ears as one of my props. I bought them when I went to Disneyland Paris earlier in the year and therefore didn't have to go out and buy any. The fact that the ears are glittery and pink makes them appeal even more to my target audience. Both glitter and pink sterertypically appeal to young girls thus drawing them into the article and (if it were real) persuade them to buy the magazine.
I included Disneyland in my location idea moodboard and thus used it as inspiration for my props aswell. This will ensure a theme is run throughout the magazine, creating interest and hopefully making it appear more professional.
These are the props I have decided to use:
- Glittery, pink Minnie Mouse ears
- Pink Hawaiian Glasses (featuring a drink, flamingo and a palm tree)
- A Justin Bieber mask
- A Lei and 2 flower wristbands
In the end I decided not to use the cat mask as one of my photo-shoot props. This is because I thought that 4 props would create a better layout on the page and also I decided that the cat mask can come across a little scary subsequently making it inappropriate for my target audience of 10-15 year old girls
